Road show held at Mumbai on 18th October 2010

 

Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India organized a road show on 18th October 2010 at Hotel Trident Mumbai, to promote the ninth bidding round of exploration blocks, NELP-IX. The event was well attended by over 450 participants including representatives of Press & Media. Under the ninth round of NELP, Government of India is offering the 34 blocks from 10 sedimentary basins that includes eight deepwater blocks, seven shallow water blocks, and nineteen onland blocks.  The area covered by these 34 blocks is of the order of 88,807 sq km.

 

 

Mr. Murli Deora, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Jitin Prasada, Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. S.Sundareshan, Secretary, Petroleum & Natural Gas and Mr. Hari Bhartia, President, CII have addressed the gathering and have spoken about the past achievements in hydrocarbon sector and the conducive investment environment in the country.

 

A report compiled by DGH “Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Activities in India 2009-10” was released by Mr. Murli Deora, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas.

 

Subsequently presentations were made by Mr. Vikram Mehta, Chairman, National Committee on Hydrocarbons-CII, Mr. Mark Houchen, Vice President-BG India, Mr Rahul Dhir, CEO-Cairn Energy, Mr.  R.S.Sharma, CMD-ONGC, Mr Ravi Bastia, Sr Vice President- RIL, Mr. Nabin Ballodia, Director, Tax & Regulatory-KPMG, Mr. S.K.Srivastava, Director General-DGH and Mr. D.N.Narasimha Raju, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. While speakers from industry listed their achievements and the working environment in India, Mr. S.K.Srivastava, Director General-DGH had given a detailed account of hydrocarbon prospectivity of the blocks and the petroleum system of different basins inviting companies to participate.  

 

The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Dependra Pathak, Director, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Question & Answer session followed the speeches and presentations.

 

A  Press Conference was held at the end of the event and Mr. Murli Deora, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Jitin Prasada, Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. S.Sundareshan, Secretary, Petroleum & Natural Gas and Mr. S.K.Srivastava, Director General-DGH have addressed the press and answered their queries.

 

12 PSUs, 31 private E&P companies (15 of them foreign), 42 Service Provider companies (14 of them foreign), 53 Media & press agencies (6 of them foreign) and 17 Financial Institutions/Banks (7 of them foreign) have been represented.

 

The event generated interest among several E&P and non-E&P companies who are actively viewing the geoscientific data for choosing blocks of their interest.
